Bad Memories? Forget Them!

Scientists at the University of California, Irvine, discovered the brain mechanism that shuts off traumatic responses to bad memories, according to HealthDay News. Alleviate Severe Depression

New research on a surgical technique called Deep Brain Stimulation out of Toronto Western Hospital may be of interest to women suffering from severe depression. According to reports from Canadian news site CTV.ca, the researchers found that DBS relieves depression symptoms. Sixty percent of patients with Major Depressant Disorder Deep brain stimulation experienced decreased symptoms for at least one year.

Is Your Spleen Preventing Disease?

Scientists at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research have discovered how the immune system and the brain communicate to control disease. This is possible because the vagus nerve helps regulate the spleen, where immune cells and nerves interact. Read more in this release, which details the study that was originally published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
